On January 12, 2026, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers responded to Tonkadale Greenhouse in Minnetonka, Hennepin County, Minnesota for a fraud alert. A customer, S. C., had just contacted the store telling them that his credit card had been charged in the amount of approximately $2,843 for purchases that he did not make. S. C. Was not in the store and had his credit card on his person. A store employee told police that two males had just purchased items using their phone and right after the store received the fraud call from S. C. The same two males had been in the store the day prior and returned merchandise shortly after purchase.
S. C. Also had fraudulent charges on his card from the day prior. Officers received a description of the car the males had been driving and observed the car driving in the vicinity of the store. The driver then made evasive driving actions once the officer was observed. The driver eventually pulled over. The driver was identified as Ayanle Ismail Abdulahi, hereafter defendant. Defendant was identified by store employees as one of the persons that made the purchases of vases and lawn soil minutes before.
Defendant is currently in custody.
