Your Complainant is a Deputy with the Steele County Sheriff's Office. Investigation has revealed that on November 4th, 2025, at approximately 9:40 PM, Deputies responded to the report of a personal injury accident at 37th Avenue Southwest and 93rd Street Southwest, County of Steele, MN. Prior to arrival, Deputies were made aware that it was potentially a head-on collision, and one driver was unconscious with no pulse. The crash was called in by parties who heard the collision occur from down the road.
Upon arrival, Deputy Trupe observed a black pickup truck stopped on the roadway diagonally facing Northwest. Deputy Trupe then observed a red SUV in the West ditch facing Northbound. Deputy Trupe observed airbag deployment and heavy front-end damage to both vehicles. Deputy Wise approached the driver's side of the vehicle in the ditch and observed a conscious and somewhat alert passenger in the passenger seat, and an unconscious female in the driver's seat. It would later be found that the male in the passenger seat, ID'd by MN DL was David Ramirez (DOB: 08-23- 1999), was the driver of the pickup truck.
Deputy Wiste detected an overwhelming odor of alcohol emitting from Ramirez. Ramirez appeared to be conscious and somewhat alert, he was concerned and asked Deputy Trupe about his dog. Ellendale Fire personnel provided medical care to Ramirez. While speaking with an Ellendale Firefighter, Ramirez stated that he was the only occupant and driver of the pickup truck, and that he had had two beers today. Ramirez was transported by Mayo Ambulance, and was later flown out to Rochester. Deputy Trupe observed the driver, who was identified as Christine Ilene Possin, age 71. Possin was declared deceased on the scene due to her injuries.
Deputy Trupe looked inside Ramirez's truck and observed a case on "Natural Ice" beer on the floor behind the driver seat. Deputy Trupe also observed an open can of Natural Ice in the passenger side door. A handgun was found next to the driver seat in Ramirez's vehicle. Deputy Rector removed he handgun from the vehicle and had dispatch run the serial number. The handgun was a Colt 45 Auto. Deputy Wiste spoke with a few witnesses, R. S., E. S., and D. H. E. S. Was the original caller of the incident, who stated he was outside his house just North of the crash site when he heard a loud crash.
E. S. Came and observed the crash, then called 911. R. S. Told Deputy Wiste that she saw Ramirez stumbling from the pickup truck to the SUV and appeared to attempt to give aid. It should be noted that nobody else was in either vehicle except for the two drivers. Due to the Skid marks and the final positions of both vehicles, it appeared the SUV was driving South on 37th Avenue and the pickup truck was driving North. 3 74-CR-25-2045 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 11/21/2025 Troopers responded to the crash scene and painted it for reconstruction.
