On or about August 21, 2025, at approximately 6:25 PM, Officer Gorman of the Crystal Police Department observed a white SUV with illegally tinted windows while on patrol in the area 36th Ave and Perry Ave, City of Crystal, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as DAVON JAKHARI DENT, [DOB REDACTED], the Defendant herein. Upon contact with the Defendant, the officer noted a plastic bag of marijuana sitting on Defendant's lap that was not from a licensed dispensary.
The officer asked for the bag and Defendant handed it to him. The officer measured the tint of the passenger window and noted it was 5%, which was 45% too dark. Another officer was called to scene and Defendant was asked to step out. The officer explained that the marijuana he had was not legal. The officer asked Defendant if he was going to find more in the vehicle, to which Defendant stated he would find "a lot" of marijuana in a backpack. The officer proceeded to search the vehicle. In the center console, the officer fold an old white sock full of.45 caliber bullets.
A backpack behind the driver's seat revealed multiple large bags of vacuum sealed marijuana. The officer states the bags were not from a licensed dispensary. The officer was advised that Defendant had multiple felony convictions and was a prohibited person. Defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Crystal Police Department. The evidence was then assessed and booked. A Buccal Swab obtained with a search warrant signed by the Honorable William H. Koch showed no DNA on the.45 caliber bullets attributable to Defendant.
The marijuana bags were weighed and totaled 763 grams.
