At approximately 3:15 PM on December 2, 2025, Deputy Winter of the Carver County Sheriff’s Office responded to a driving complaint on Highway 7 near its intersection with County Road 25 in Hollywood Township, Carver County. The reporting party, M. S., indicated he was aware that Cassie Rae Tauriainen [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, had been drinking earlier in the day and that he had observed Defendant driving "all over the road." Deputy Winter located the vehicle and observed it travel on the fog line.
Deputy Winter initated a traffic stop, and the vehicle was slow to come to a stop. Defendant exhibited slurred speech, and indicated her ID was in the rear of the vehicle. Defendant then crawled into the back of the vehicle and eventually came out a read door. Defendant smelled strongly of alcohol. Defendant claimed to have a valid work permit, however a records check revealed that her driving privileges had been canceled as inimical to public safety. Defendant agreed to perform field sobriety tests.
Defendant's performance on the HGN Test, the Walk and Turn Test, and the One-Leg Stand Test each indicated impairment. Defendant provided a preliminary breath test that resulted in a reading of.099. Defendant was placed under arrest for suspicion of DWI. Due to the DMT machine being in service, Defendant was taken to 212 Medical Center where Deputy Winter sought and obtained a warrant for Defendant's blood or urine. Defendant agreed to provide a urine sample, which has been sent to the Minnesota BCA for analysis.
Defendant has impaired driving related losses of license from November 2, 2017; April 4, 2022; and May 12, 2022. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
