On 9/1/2025, at approximately 0218 hours, Minneapolis Police officers responded to a shooting report at the Stone Arch Bridge near 6th Avenue SE and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers observed groups of multiple individuals. One female stated that she recognized one of the individuals who had been shot as a Somali TikTok star. She stated that the group was filming TikTok on the bridge before the shots started. Officers observed and collected numerous shell casings scattered across the bridge into downtown side.
Officers collected approximately 5-6 DCCs on the bridge. Officers located a fully identified male, Victim 1 herein, laying on the south side of the walkway. Victim 1 had bleeding wound on his foot consistent with that of gunshot wound. Victim 1 told officers that he was confronted by a male who pulled out a black handgun and started shooting at him and he was struck on the right foot. Victim 1 stated that the shooter was wearing a black mask and ran on foot heading toward the Minneapolis Police 2nd precinct.
A witness told officers that Victim 1 was one of the shooters and saw Victim 1 shoot back at the original shooter. The witness stated that Victim 1 had a “Glock 19” and shoot back at a person wearing a mask and all black. Officers did not locate a firearm on Victim 1. Officers also located a fully identified female, Victim 2 herein, that had been shot in the leg. Victim 2 was sitting on the south side of the walkway next to the railing holding her right leg as two others were helping her hold a cloth to her wound.
Victim 2 had a bleeding hole right above her knee consistent with gunshot wound. Two witnesses told officers that there was a verbal argument with males regarding one of the males wearing a face mask. The male wearing a facemask began to leave the bridge but turned back and opened fire at the two other males. Two of the males then shot back at the original shooter and ran towards downtown side. One of the two males, Victim 1, was shot on the foot. Victim 2 had a bullet in her right knee. Victim 2’s shooter was described by witnesses as a Somali male wearing all black with a facemask.
One of the shooters was described as taller thin Somali male wearing a black Somali cultural dress, later identified as ABDALLE MAHAD AHMED ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein. A witness also positively identified Defendant as one of the shooters at a show up. Another witness also told officers that he had been on the bridge talking with girls when he saw a Somali male wearing gray hooded sweatshirt approach from the south. The male asked the group “you good, you good” and then fired a handgun. The witness did not know nor recognize the male shooter.
Officers observed four males walking eastbound on the north sidewalk of 2nd Street on the south edge of Gold Medal Park. Three of the males were walking together, side-by-side. Defendant, matching the description provided by witnesses wearing the black Somali dress, was one of the four males. The others were identified as ZAA, MHA, and MNA. MNA was initially lagging behind the group, but the group stopped as if to allow him to catch up. There were no other people walking in or around the park or on the sidewalks at the time the group was located.
