On December 6, 2025, at 0135 hours, St. Paul police officers responded to Como and Highway 280, St. Paul, Ramsey County, on a report of an assault. Officers spoke to MMG, [DOB REDACTED], a Lyft driver. There was a language barrier, so officers employed a Somali officer to assist with the statement. MMG stated that he was called for a ride to that area. He waited two minutes when a male approached his vehicle, yelling. The male banged on the window while reaching for his waistband. MMG became frightened so he drove away.
He made a U-turn, and as he was driving back toward the area of the encounter, he saw the same male, pointing a handgun at him. Officers located a male who matched the suspect description. The male took off running from officers. Officers apprehended the male and identified him as Richi Alan Bradshaw Thomas, [DOB REDACTED]. Officers recovered a loaded and chambered Smith & Wesson pistol on Thomas’s person. Thomas slurred his words and smelled of consumed alcohol. MMG identified Thomas as the person who pointed the gun at him.
Thomas has a permit to carry a firearm. Thomas registered at.12 BAC, three times the legal limit for lawful public possession of a firearm. Thomas declined a custodial interview.
