On November 2, 2025, Minneapolis Police was dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Upon arrival, officers spoke with juvenile A. A., who stated that his mother, K. R., herein Victim, was inside the apartment arguing with her boyfriend Dawud Andrew Goolsby, herein DEFENDANT. Officers then spoke with Victim, [NAME REDACTED] had strangled her during the argument. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was her partner and they currently live together. DEFENDANT admitted to grabbing Victim [NAME REDACTED]. In a follow-up statement, Victim provided additional details regarding the assault.
She stated that DEFENDANT had thrown himself on top of her and began choking her. She confirmed that DEFENDANT placed his hands around her throat, causing both of them to fall to the ground. Victim reported that DEFENDANT kept both hands on her neck for approximately one to two minutes, during which time she experienced difficulty breathing. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had undergone a tracheotomy on July 20, 2025, and the incision had not yet fully healed. She noted that DEFENDANT was aware of this and had previously choked her and poked at the scar in the center of her neck.
The incision remained bandaged and had reopened as a result of the incident. As of November 4, 2025, Victim [NAME REDACTED] had affected her voice, which remained raspy and scratchy. Officers also interviewed Victim’s minor son, A. A., who stated that he witnessed DEFENDANT on top of Victim, [NAME REDACTED]. A. A. Estimated that DEFENDANT remained on top of his mother for approximately one to two minutes. At one point, A. A. Reported hearing DEFENDANT yell that he would “slit [Victim’s] throat.” DEFENDANT is currently in custody due to the city initially charging this assault.
There is an active Domestic Abuse No Contact Order issued in that case.
