On May 25, 2026, Deputy Pysick was dispatched to a domestic situation at a residence located on the 200th block of Winker Trail, in the city of Cologne, Carver County, Minnesota. Prior to arriving dispatch had informed law enforcement that many people were screaming and at one point could hear a male say they wanted to die and “I want to feel her blood on my fingers”. The same male said, “ just shoot her in the head”. One male was saying they were afraid of the other male. It appeared that the voices were continued to escalate and that a male told another that he wished he would have broke her neck.
Law enforcement arrived and spoke with two parties who both said their son is out of control. The son was identified as Derek Reid Belden, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Law enforcement spoke with an adult female, RLB who explained that Defendant was in the basement and she was upstairs watching a movie. RLB stated that she heard a loud scream coming from downstairs and she says that is normal when Defendant wakes up from a blackout or has been drinking. RLB went downstairs to check on Defendant and observed an open bottle of Vodka which upset RLB because Defendant recently started a new job and was recently out of the hospital and now he is drinking again.
RLB confronted Defendant about this and Defendant got upset. RLB left the basement after she saw Defendant was mad. While upstairs RLB explained that Defendant threatened to kill RLB and came up behind her and wrapped his arm around her neck and but her in a chokehold/headlock. RLB could still breath and was horrified and “very very frightened”. RLB stated that she believes that Defendant would kill her if he was drinking like he was tonight. An adult male, MDB saw what Defendant was doing and tried to get RLB out of Defendant’s headlock/chokehold.
Defendant and MDB began to fight. RLB showed a video that she had captured of the incident and on the video you can hear Defendant state: “I hate her so much. I want to kill her. I want to feel my f****** fingers collapse her throat.” Derek then tells MDB to shoot Rebecca in the face. Defendant the reiterates “So again, if you hadn’t rushed up, I would have broken her f****** chicken f****** neck. And I would have danced on her f****** grave. And when she’s dead, I will dance on it.” “This ain’t some f****** I’m drunk s***, this is all my s*** coming out that I’ve been holding in for how long.
It’s not I’m drunk and I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’ll say the same f****** thing tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday, if you wanna listen.” Defendant was placed under arrest and while upstairs and with law enforcement holding on to Defendant he tried to go after RLB and then lunged himself through a closed glass door. This caused one of the deputies to be cut and Defendant had to be placed on the ground for his safety. Law enforcement observed Defendant to be injured and was bleeding. Paramedics was called and Defendant denied any treatment.
