On December 12, 2025, law enforcement were on routine patrol in the area of Lake Drive in Robbinsdale, Hennepin County, Minnesota, when they observed a dark colored pick-up truck driving at a high rate of speed. The radar locked this vehicle in as driving 51-mph in a 30-mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated that included lights and sirens. The suspect vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed, eventually reaching speeds of approximately 70 mph in a 30-mph zone. The vehicle slowed down several times appearing to nearly stop before accelerating again.
Officers utilized lights, sirens, spotlights, and the PA speaker in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Eventually, a PIT maneuver successfully stopped the suspect vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as ALEXANDER JAMES MCGREGOR, herein Defendant. Defendant was transported to the police station, where the odor of alcoholic beverage was noted on his breath. Field sobriety testing revealed several indica of impairment. Defendant was read the breath test advisory and ultimately provided a Datamaster breath sample of.15 BAC, nearly two times the legal limit.
Defendant has a prior DWI Test Refusal conviction from 2/25/2020. Defendant made several voluntary statements about the flee as well as admitted to consuming two margaritas prior to driving. Defendant is currently in custody.
