Notice: Pursuant to Minnesota Rule of Criminal Procedure 7.02, the prosecution provides notice that, at trial, the State will offer evidence of the following offenses, in addition to the offense herein charged, for the purpose of proving the motive, intent, preparation, plan, and identity of the perpetrator. ••-CR-••-•••• On 7/27/25, YUSUF was arrested after driving a Honda that was not displaying any license plates. The vehicle had been stolen out of Minneapolis and police found its license plates inside the vehicle.
This Auto Theft case is still open. ••-CR-••-•••• On 8/13/2025, YUSUF, and a female passenger, fled from police in a stolen Acura that was not displaying license plates. Police did not pursue, but about two hours later they arrested YUSUF after he drove the stolen Acura to a parking ramp where he tried to steal another vehicle. This Auto Theft case is still open. ••-CR-••-•••• On 8/17/25, YUSUF and a female suspect entered a locked apartment parking garage in St. Louis Park where they rifled multiple cars and stole property.
YUSUF was identified after he was arrested committing a similar offense St. Louis Park on 8/25/25. This Burglary/Theft case is still open. ••-CR-••-•••• On 12/29/2025, police learned that a BMW had been stolen from an apartment garage in Bloomington, MN. The next day, on 12/30/2025, the vehicle was involved in a theft at a Target store. YUSUF was the driver. When Ramsey County Deputies tried to stop it, YUSUF rammed a squad and tried to flee. YUSUF finally stopped after striking a curb, colliding with another vehicle, and crashing into a snowbank.
This Auto Theft case is still open. Current offense: On 05/03/2026 at about 1013 hours, Roseville Police responded to The Oasis Apartments at [ADDRESS REDACTED] N in Roseville, Ramsey County. The complainant saw a male suspect pulling on doors trying to gain entry to the building and the suspect was now in the parking garage with a female in a blue Ford sedan. Police arrived and found the suspects and the 2014 Ford Fusion in the garage. The vehicle was not displaying license plates. Auto thieves commonly remove license plates in order to thwart law enforcement efforts to identify it.
The driver was identified as Zekeria Abdi YUSUF [DOB REDACTED] and the female passenger was identified as Jasani Leara McMORRIS [DOB REDACTED]. YUSUF said a family member let him into the garage. Both YUSUF and McMORRIS had active warrants. Police checked the Ford’s VIN and saw that the owner, SSH (first name “Samuel”), lived in Coon Rapids and that it should have been displaying MN license plate SHB 785. Believing the vehicle might be stolen but not yet reported, officers asked Coon Rapids Police to contact the owner.
YUSUF told police that he borrowed the Ford from his friend whom he knew only as "Samuel" about thirty minutes earlier on Lake St in Minneapolis. He said he did not realize it was not displaying any license plates. McMORRIS said they got the vehicle about an hour to an hour and a half earlier. She said she was Facebook friends with "Samuel" which was how they were going to contact him to return it. 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 5/13/2026 During a search of the vehicle, police saw that the contents of the glove compartment appeared to have been dumped on the floorboard.
