Building the future of George Floyd Square – together

This summer will begin a two-year reconstruction of 38th Street in Chicago, Avenue at George Floyd Square, which has been shaped by years of community input. We'll be updating nearly a half mile of roadway, including critical infrastructure updates to provide a safer, more accessible space. That includes changes to the streets and curbs to slow traffic, improve safety, the return of bus service along Chicago Avenue, as well as more green space and new bike paths. We're working with artists and the community to ensure that memorials are still accessible as well as local businesses.
