On April 18, 2026, at 9:47 P.M., a West St. Paul police officers responded to a report of threats being made to a female who was at a residence in West St. Paul, Dakota County, MN. The officer spoke with the reporting party (“RP”) who said that her mother (“Victim”) wa receiving threatening messages from her husband, Defendant NICHOLAS SEAN SWANSON [DOB REDACTED]. RP provided the officer with text messages and voice messages from Defendant to Victim. The officer reviewed the screenshots of the messages and saw Defendant sent: On Friday, March 20th at 06:34 hours, Defendant texted Victim, "If you let that and these white people run all over you I'll kill you.
You better not have them f****** touch those kids and when I find you I'm beating the living f*** outta you b****….allllofyou….don't f*** with my kids and I will kill your people!!!!!!!! MAKE SURE MY KIDS CALL ME M***********" On Tuesday, April 7th at 03:43 hours, Defendant texted Victim, "Your whole family is dead" On Friday April 18th at 11:09 hours, Defendant texted Victim, "Coming to use your truck see you tonight" At 18:34 hours, Defendant texted Victim, "[RP] a stupid b**** I kill your kids answer" The officer also reviewed the voice messages received on April 18, 2026. Defendant is heard saying, “I’m going to f****** kill you.” He says this three times.
Defendant also tells Victim [NAME REDACTED] is going to kill her kids. All the messages indicate that he intended to go to another address where he believed Victim resided. After the officer arrived at Victim’s residence, RP notified the officer that Defendant had just sent her his location pin on Instagram. It indicated that Defendant was near Thompson County Park. The officer spoke with Victim’s other daughter (“Witness 1”) who stated that because Victim had not responded to Defendant this time, he had left voicemails for Victim and reached out to other family members.
Victim and Defendant have been married since 2005. Victim said that their relationship started okay, but Defendant drank a lot and has mental health concerns. Victim [NAME REDACTED] has been 2 19HA-CR-26-576 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/21/2026 emotionally and physically abusive in the past. He has slapped and punched her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had received the first text message, she just wanted to ignore it. But when Victim [NAME REDACTED], she was very scared. Victim is scared for her family and scared for herself.
Victim doesn’t know what he is capable of but thinks that he would hurt her if she saw him on the street. The officer did not locate Defendant at the address he said he was going to. The State asks that a warrant be issued here because a substantial likelihood exists that Defendant would not respond to a summons. Minn. R. Crim. P. 3.01.
