On February 7, 2026, Maple Grove Police Officers responded to a theft report at Maple Grove Lutheran Church, [ADDRESS REDACTED] North, Maple Grove, Hennepin County. The reporting party C. E. Stated he was a Boy Scout troop leader through Maple Grove Lutheran Church and in charge of their Boy Scout Troop's Haulmark trailer valued at approximately $7,000. The trailer housed the Troop's camping equipment and had been stolen from the parking lot of the church around February 6, 2026. The lock to the trailer had been cut off and was on the ground near where the trailer was parked.
The trailer was red with the Boy Scout Troop 84 markings covering it. A witness who had children in Boy Scout Troop 84 and had pulled the trailer personally, noticed the distinctive trailer traveling alongside him on February 7, 2026, in Minneapolis. The witness stated that an extended cab blue pickup truck was pulling the trailer that he did not recognize. The truck was being pulled by a male whose passenger seat, backseat, and trunk were full of junk. The witness was included in a group text chat alerting others about the theft.
The witness reported to police his observations. Officers located the truck pulling the trailer on MNDOT camera surveillance. A social media release produced two other witnesses that stated the truck and trailer were located in a driveway owned by who was later identified as LAWRENCE ALAN RANDALL, Defendant herein. He stated he had had the trailer for approximately a month and half and that it was not the trailer Officers were looking for. The Defendant did not have paperwork for the trailer. Officers inspected the trailer closer then learned that it had identifying dents the Troop's trailer had and that it smelled like fresh paint. Officers could see the Troop's red painted trailer on the roof.
Officers then observed the plate where the serial number was had been sanded off and then the plate was taped over on the tongue of the trailer. The Defendant stated that he doesn't give a "f*** about the scouts." In summary that he was sexually assaulted as a scout and "if they don't go camping, they don't get raped either." On February 17, 2026, Officers received a phone call from the Defendant who stated he recovered the Troop's camping equipment from inside the trailer and dropped them off at the church.
