On October 7, 2025, at approximately 10:37 P.M., officers were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle theft in southeast Rochester, County of Olmsted, State of Minnesota. Upon arrival, Ofc. Rodenwald met with an adult male (hereinafter "Victim") who was standing outside, clothes soaked in blood and bleeding from the head. Victim [NAME REDACTED] into his driveway and parked his vehicle, a Jeep Liberty. Within thirty seconds, another vehicle pulled in behind Victim, which was visible to Victim in his rear view mirror.
At least two individuals exited the vehicle and approached Victim's Jeep. One individual came to the passenger side and shined a flashlight into the window. A second individual approached the driver's side, opened the door and forcibly pulled Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] at least two in number, one of whom was wearing a white ski mask. Victim reported that he tried to roll under another vehicle, his spouse's truck, during the assault. Victim's phone, wallet, and Jeep were taken by the suspects.
Ofc. Rodenwald observed a notable amount of blood on the ground near the driveway, which was the location where Victim [NAME REDACTED] from his Jeep. Ofc. Rodenwald observed a Glock handgun magazine laying in the middle of the driveway which contained approximately twelve unfired 9mm rounds. Officers canvassed the area for video footage. Multiple cameras and videos were located. On one of the recordings, Victim [NAME REDACTED] into his driveway. Shortly after, a silver or white vehicle pulls in behind him.
Audio of the assault of Victim [NAME REDACTED]. A short time passes before the suspect vehicle backs out and pulls down the road. Two suspects are scene running back to their vehicle. The stolen Jeep then leaves the driveway and takes off and the suspect vehicle follows. The footage suggests approximately four suspects working in concert. The footage indicates the carjacking took place at 10:19 P.M. Looking at other video footage in the area, Ofc. Rodenwald determined that the suspect vehicle was a 2005-2011 Honda Odyssey, silver in color. 2 55-CR-26-553 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/22/2026 On October 9, 2025, Victim's spouse contacted dispatch to report a suspicious vehicle outside their residence.
Officers responded and located a black Mercedes (MN ZML 039) being driven by MOSES JOSEPH OGAK [DOB REDACTED]. From watching body- worn camera footage from the interaction on October 9, 2025, Det. Bottcher determined that the passenger was possibly DAKAREE R'MONI JOHNSON [DOB REDACTED]. Det. Bottcher reviewed City of Rochester camera footage to corroborate Victim's movements prior to the carjacking. While doing so, Det. Bottcher observed a Honda Odyssey following Victim's Jeep in the area of 16th Street and 3rd Avenue SE. The stolen Jeep was found about 10:40 P.M. In northeast Rochester.
