At approximately 8:30 pm on March 3, 2026, officers from the Rosemount Police Department responded to a residence located in the City of Rosemount, within Dakota County, on a report of malicious punishment. Initial reports were that Victim A (a juvenile male fully identified in the reports) had been punched in the face by his mother’s boyfriend, Jeremiah Robert Hedberg [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. The initial report to law enforcement was made by a classmate of Victim A’s sister. He reported that Victim A’s sister told him the defendant punched Victim A in the face on March 2, 2026 and Victim A was knocked unconscious and his face was all bloody.
Officers arrived at Victim A’s residence and spoke with his mother. An officer told her that she needed to check on her children. Victim A’s mother said all of her children were fine. The officer told her she needed to see Victim A. Victim A’s mother reluctantly allowed the officers to speak with Victim A. The officer met with Victim A and immediately observed significant injuries to his face. Victim A’s injuries included an open laceration on his face, swelling and blue/purple discoloration to his right eye, a swollen right eyelid, raised and puffy right cheek, and redness to his face.
Victim A appeared nervous and scared. Victim A claimed the injuries were from his skateboard. The officer asked Victim A if he felt safe telling him what happened the previous night and after a pause Victim A quietly said “no.” Victim A’s sister was interviewed. She reported that she saw the defendant punch Victim A in the face with a closed fist and there was blood covering Victim A’s face. Victim A’s brother was also interviewed. He reported that he saw the defendant hit Victim A with his knuckles.
After the defendant hit Victim A, the defendant picked Victim A up, threw him on the bed, and put his hands around Victim A’s neck. Officers arranged for Victim A to receive medical attention for his injuries. A doctor examined Victim A and said Victim A will have a scar on his face and the scar will likely be more visible because of the failure of Victim A’s mother and the defendant to obtain immediate medical attention for Victim A.
