On November 26, 2025, officers were dispatched to a residence in the City of South St. Paul, County of Dakota, State of Minnesota, on reports of an assault. The reporting party stated that his neighbor (Victim) crawled out of an egressed window of her home and yelled for him to call the police. The Victim also stated that her son had a firearm. Officers arrived on scene and identified the Victim’s son as Austen James Brown Grochowski [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter Defendant). The Victim stated that the Defendant arrived at her residence earlier in the day despite an active no contact order.
The Defendant appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was upset that the Victim had packed up his personal items. The Defendant told the Victim he was going to kill her and pointed a gun at her head. The Victim then ran downstairs and fled her residence. Officers were able to speak with the Defendant via phone who was still in the Victim’s residence. The Defendant made several nonsensical statements about the government and the military. The Defendant also admitted that the Victim “got an attitude” earlier and he was “going to put a bullet in her head.” The Defendant initially refused to leave the residence and stated that police officers are not real.
The Defendant eventually walked out of the residence and sat in a parked vehicle. The Defendant was then taken into custody. A firearm was located in the vehicle.
