On April 20, 2026, Minneapolis Police officers were dispatched to a residence located on the 5700 block of Sander Drive in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, on the report of a domestic assault. Officers responded and spoke with a known adult female, Victim herein. Victim stated that her boyfriend, JACOB BENJAMIN MCBRIDE, DEFENDANT herein, had just threatened her with a firearm after breaking into her home and he also stole her vehicle. Victim stated to officers that Defendant was infuriated with her when she refused to give him access to one of her vehicles.
She was so fearful that she stayed at a friend's home the night before this happened worried about what Defendant would do if he found her. When Victim arrived home on 4/20, she found Defendant inside of her bedroom. Victim stated that she started to scream hoping the neighbors would hear her. Victim recounted that Defendant pulled a firearm and pointed it towards her head. Defendant threatened to pistol whip her so hard that she'd have a scar if she didn't stop screaming. Victim stated that she tried to back away from Defendant into other areas of the residence and Defendant pursued her continuing to point the firearm at her.
She recounted that Defendant threatened to shoot her. He then reached into her sweatshirt pocket, ripped the pocket, removed her car keys, and left in her vehicle. As Victim was recounting this assault, she was visibly distraught, shaking, crying, and apologized to officers because her pants were wet as she had lost control of her bladder out of fear that Defendant was about to kill her. Defendant is presently on supervised release and has an active DOC fugitive warrant for Burglary in the First Degree and Assault Two convictions wherein he pointed a firearm at a woman who treated him like a son, forced his way into her home, and then pointed the firearm at another resident pulling the trigger multiple times (19HACR18852). These convictions were entered on May 17, 2018. Defendant also has a conviction for Burglary in the Second Degree from April 2016 wherein he broke into an ex-girlfriend's home through a window and strangled and punched his ex-girlfriend resulting in multiple injuries to her face and body (62CR161466). Defendant also has a conviction for Trespassing in a Facility Providing Transitional Housing for Battered Women from May 2016 wherein he broken into a domestic violence housing facility where his ex-girlfriend was residing by forcing open a window and yelling at his ex-girlfriend that she can't hide from him (62SUCR16962).
