On January 29, 2026, at approximately 11:21 P.M., Mille Lacs Tribal Police Officer Gavin Peterson received information from Special Agent (SA) Matthew Jorgens with the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division (LADID) that investigations had received reliable information that a vehicle transporting approximately one-half pound of methamphetamine was expected to travel through the Mill Lacs Band of Ojibwe Reservation in the near future. At approximately 11:42 P.M., Mille Lacs Tribal Police officers located the vehicle (SEA53) leaving the Grand Casino Mille Lacs.
Officer Peterson traveled behind the vehicle maintaining visual contact until it was stopped by Crow Wing County Deputy Morgan Weller in Crosby, Crow Wing County, Minnesota. The driver was identified as Britney Marie Hagerty [DOB REDACTED] and the passenger was identified as Mari Ann Jevning [DOB REDACTED]. After officers spoke with both of the vehicle's occupants, Deputy Weller called for a narcotics K9 sniff to be conducted on the vehicle. Baxter Police Officer Taylor Halverson responded and had his K9 partner Timber conduct a narcotics sniff of the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle after K9 Timber alerted to the odor of controlled substances. Inside a purse identified by Jevning as belonging to her, officers located a bag containing approximately 0.6 grams of cocaine; a bag containing approximately 1.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine; a bag containing approximately 0.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine; and a bag containing one pill suspected to be Oxycodone and three suspected Lorazepam pills. The substances field tested positive. Deputy Well located a brown snake print bag behind the driver's seat.
Inside the brown bag, the deputy located a pink snake printed bag which contained a scale with residue; an insect trap with multiple bags of suspected methamphetamine inside. These bags weighed as follows: 2.6 grams; 11.3 grams; 56.1 grams; and 112.1 grams. These bags field tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputy Weller spoke with Hagerty who stated that vehicle belonged to her. She identified the brown snake printed bag as belonging to her and said it contained perfume, makeup, and a pink and white zebra bag.
Hagerty denied the pink snake printed bag belonged to her.
