At approximately 6:27 am on November 30, 2025, an officer from the Mendota Heights Police Department responded to a hospital after receiving a report that a recently admitted patient had been assaulted at a residence located in the City of Mendota Heights, within Dakota County. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with the patient’s doctor who said Victim A (a juvenile male fully identified in the reports) arrived at the emergency room with bright red bruises around his neck and reported that his brother, David Lee Delich [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein, strangled him.
The doctor told the officer Victim A had been strangled “nearly to death” and “could have been murdered.” The officer spoke with Victim A, and he reported the following facts. He woke up at 4:30 am because he heard someone removing snow from their driveway. He and his mother began arguing verbally and the defendant intervened. The defendant grabbed Victim A by the throat with both hands. The defendant struck Victim A in the head with a closed fist several times. The defendant then got behind Victim A and placed him in a headlock with his inner elbow on Victim A’s throat.
Victim A reported that he had trouble breathing and his ears were ringing after the assault. The officer saw red marks around Victim A’s throat and collected photographs as evidence.
