On 12/18/25, at approximately 1200 hours, Ramsey County Investigators were conducting surveillance at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Maplewood, Ramsey County. The Investigators received reliable intelligence that Tao YANG [DOB REDACTED] was at the address and they were aware that YANG had multiple felony warrants. Investigators observed a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner (MN/MZM-668) leave the address and turn east onto County Road C without making a complete stop at the stop sign. Investigators followed the vehicle as it traveled at a high rate of speed southbound on Hazelwood.
The driver failed to stop at the stop sign at Hazelwood and Gervais and then quickly turned west on Grandview. The driver appeared to be fleeing. An Investigator activated the squad’s emergency lights and sirens, but the driver did not stop. Near Grandview and Barclay, the Investigator terminated the pursuit. The driver continued northbound Barclay but then tried to drive onto on a walking trail. He lost control in the snow and the vehicle spun out. Two males then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Both the driver, YANG, and the passenger, later identified as Chee LEE [DOB REDACTED], were pursued on foot and eventually taken into custody. LEE said that he was not driving and that YANG was the driver. LEE also said that YANG had brought a stolen white Chevy Suburban to his house a week earlier. During a search of the vehicle, Deputies found a cellphone, a set of seven keys, a Milwaukee Hacksaw with a battery, and multiple hand tools and saw blades. Investigation into the ownership of the Toyota 4 Runner in is ongoing.
YANG is currently in custody on unrelated matters. For purposes of Rule 6.
