On April 9, 2026, at approximately 5:54 PM, Deputy Roberts learned of dispatch receiving three 911 calls that were dropped from the address of [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Bovey, Itasca County. Deputy Roberts arrived on scene at approximately 5:57 PM and knocked on the front door. A. K. R. Came to the front door, but due to a large dog in the house decided to exit a different door to meet with him. Upon exiting the house in the backyard, A. K. R. Was followed by Chase Robert Kuehl [DOB REDACTED]. Deputy Roberts informed A. K. R. That he was there because dispatch received three 911 hang up calls from her phone number.
A. K. R. Stated that it was her and that she was involved in a domestic with Kuehl. Deputy Roberts noted that while A. K. R. Made that comment, Kuehl looked at A. K. R. And said that they were not having a domestic. Coleraine Officer McCartney arrived on scene and had Kuehl go with him so that Deputy Roberts could obtain a statement from A. K. R. A. K. R. Reported to Deputy Roberts that Kuehl was lighting fireworks off inside the house and she told him to stop but he refused. A. K. R. Said that she threw a vape at him while they were sitting side by side on the couch.
A. K. R. Said that Kuehl then broke her computer monitor and punched her three times in her right leg. Deputy Roberts observed A. K. R.'s right leg and saw that the skin was pink and red and that there were also two bruises on her leg. Deputy Roberts asked A. K. R. What the bruises were from, and she said she did not know. Deputy Roberts took pictures of A. K. R.'s leg. Deputy Roberts asked A. K. R. If she was afraid of Kuehl, and she said, ''Yes.'' A. K. R. Reported that she and Kuehl have been dating for six months and have been living together at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Bovey.
A. K. R. Said that they do fight, but that nothing physical had happened in the past. Deputy Roberts then took a statement from Kuehl. Kuehl said that they were arguing about the dogs. He said they have two male dogs and one female dog, that none of the dogs are fixed, and that the female is currently in heat. Kuehl said that he never hit A. K. R. Deputy Roberts told Kuehl about the statement that A. K. R. Provided and about the reported punches along with the physical signs on her leg. Deputy Roberts asked Kuehl if he had been lighting fireworks off inside the house, and he said no.
Deputy Roberts placed Kuehl under arrest and searched him before placing him in the squad vehicle. Deputy Roberts located two unused fireworks in the front pocket of the sweater that Kuehl was wearing. Kuehl was transported to the Itasca County Jail. Records show that Kuehl has convictions for the following offenses: 03/26/2026 DANCO Violation, misdemeanor 09/11/2025 Domestic Assault by Strangulation, felony 09/11/2025 Third Degree Assault, felony 02/14/2024 DWI, misdemeanor 02/23/2022 No Insurance, misdemeanor 12/22/2020 DAR, misdemeanor 2 31-CR-26-729 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/10/2026 09/16/2020 Dangerous Weapons, misdemeanor 09/16/2020 DAR, misdemeanor 05/14/2018 Controlled Substance Crime in the Fourth Degree, felony Records further show that Kuehl has failed to appear for court four times and violated probation two times regarding these offenses.
