DONTA MONTREAL PETERSON aka DONTA MONTREAL MCGILL [DOB REDACTED] is required to register his address with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as a predatory offender due to an adjudication for criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree. Peterson first completed a predatory offender registration form advising him of his registration obligations and duties on June 22, 2006. Subsequent arrests and convictions have extended Peterson’s registration end date to June 15, 2065. On November 12, 2025, Peterson completed a change of information form indicating that upon his release from the Minnesota Department of Corrections at Faribault on December 11, 2025 his primary address would be the Union Gospel Mission at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County.
Peterson never completed any weekly check-ins with the St. Paul Police Department as required of homeless offenders after his release from prison. On December 11, 2025, the BCA mailed an address verification form to Peterson at Union Gospel Mission. On December 18, 2025, Peterson failed to appear at an omnibus hearing on a felony VOCSL 5 charge in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-25-6180. On December 27, 2025, the verification letter was returned to the BCA marked “Return to Sender – Refused – Unable to Forward.” On March 10, 2026, Peterson was arrested near St. Peter and Seventh Streets, St. Paul, Ramsey County.
Peterson admitted to police he had “dope” on him when asked if he had any drugs or weapons. Officers recovered a small bag of drugs from Peterson. The contents of the bag recovered from Peterson tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine and weighed 0.44 grams. Peterson was advised of his constitutional rights and agreed to speak to police. Peterson admitted he understood his registration responsibilities. Peterson said he had been homeless and living in St. Paul For the past couple of months.
Peterson said he knew he was supposed to complete weekly check-ins with the St. Paul Police Department Predatory Offender Registration Unit, but things in his life keep distracting him. Peterson has 10 prior felony convictions including 6 prior predatory offender registration violations and a prior escape.
