On June 17, 2026, officers were called to a series of restaurants and a gas station in the City of Rosemount, County of Dakota, State of Minnesota. The officers were called regarding Johnathon Ray Vinge, [DOB redacted], defendant herein. Dispatched advised defendant was at the gas station. Dispatch could hear defendant state, “Hope the police get here soon before I become a killer.” Witnesses stated defendant was riding his bike around in circles. Defendant entered the gas station and stated “I’m taking over.” Defendant stated he had been kicked out of a nearby bar and tried to purchase cigarettes.
When defendant’s credit card was denied, he became angry and made the threats captured on 911 audio. The witness described defendant as aggressive and that he kept making movements towards his belt and pockets. The witness was visibly frightened. Officers made contact with defendant who appeared to be under the influence of both alcohol and methamphetamine. He later admitted using. Defendant acted erratically and stated he wanted to kill his father. Defendant continued to move back and forth and state non-sensical statements.
Defendant was placed into handcuffs. During this period, defendant made non-sensical statements, claimed to be the second coming, and yelled at officers. Upon further investigation, defendant was placed under arrest. During arrest, defendant began to ram his head into the squad car and ground. He threatened to kill officers and made sexual comments about them and a family member. Officers secured defendant in a WRAP restraint and padded helmet for his safety. Paramedics were called, but were unable to evaluate defendant because of his behavior.
Defendant spat towards and officer and continued to spit into a spit hood. Initial attempts to sedate defendant were unsuccessful. Defendant was transported to the hospital and then to jail. During this time period, officers took statements from witnesses at the first restaurant. An employee stated defendant was harassing and making sexual comments towards a 16 year-old employee. Defendant got into a verbal argument when he was asked to leave. Officers spoke with witnesses at the second restaurant.
An employee stated she was under 2 19HA-CR-26-860 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 6/18/2026 directives to not serve defendant based on past experiences. Defendant attempted to fight a patron when he was told to leave the bar and took his bracelet. The bracelet was recovered on defendant’s person.
