On December 22, 2025, at 11:52 P.M., a Burnsville Police Officer was assisting another officer at a traffic stop on County Rd 42 E in Burnsville, Dakota County, MN. The first officer had her vehicle pulled behind the stopped vehicle with emergency lights activated. The second officer was parked behind the first officer in a way to protect her path to her driver’s seat. As the second officer exited his squad, he observed another vehicle approaching in the right-hand lane. There were no other vehicles nearby that would have prevented it from moving into the left-hand lane.
The vehicle passed the stopped emergency vehicles and did not move over. The officer returned to his squad and caught up to the vehicle, a silver Jeep (MN/KXC282), now in the left lane. The officer activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The Jeep continued driving the same speed, which was about the posted speed limit. The officer did not observe the Jeep brake. The Jeep used their turn signal to move over into the right lane and continued driving. The officer activated his emergency sirens, using different tones, activated his emergency horn, and used the spotlight to shine on the vehicle.
The Jeep continued driving at the speed limit and failed to yield. The officer followed the vehicle with emergency lights on for over a minute and traveled about 1 mile. The officer discontinued attempts to stop the vehicle and had Dakota 911 issue a KOPS alert for the vehicle. On December 23, 2025, at 12:22 A.M., Eagan Police Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Defendant ESTEFANI YURIDIA CRISPIN LAES [DOB REDACTED]. In a Mirandized statement, Defendant admitted that she was driving the Jeep from her job in Savage back to her home in Rosemount.
At one point while she was in Burnsville, she saw a police squad following her with its emergency lights on and knew that she was supposed to the stop. Defendant said that the squad was behind her for about 5 minutes, and she did not stop. Defendant continued to drive the speed limit and hoped that at some point, the squad would disappear. Defendant thought the squad was driven by ICE.
