On January 25, 2026, at approximately 2:10 P.M., the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was dispatched on a report of a domestic incident at an address at [ADDRESS REDACTED] 371, room #8, located in Crow Wing County, State of Minnesota. Deputy Gerber responded to the scene and spoke with an adult male identified as TMR (fully identified in police reports). TMR stated he has been involved in a romantic relationship for about three years with Laurissa Rae Martin, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter defendant.
They live together at the studio apartment law enforcement responded to. TMR stated that a short time earlier he was in bed with the defendant. She has not been taking her prescribed medications for about a month. She became angry with him and punched him in the back with a closed fist. She continued to get more upset and picked up a "buck knife" with an approximate three-inch folding blade. The blade on the knife was folded out. The defendant then began to swing the knife at him in an up and down motion.
TMR picked up a water bong which he used to block the defendant from stabbing him with the knife. The defendant also told him, "I'm going to fucking kill you". TMR stated he was fearful the defendant was going to hurt him. TMR stated he called his landlord who called 911. TMR then walked out of the studio apartment. Law enforcement approached the studio apartment and observed the defendant in the doorway holding what appeared to be a large kitchen style knife. The defendant initially refused to comply with the officers command to drop the knife.
The defendant appeared emotional and unstable. The defendant indicated TMR had tried to hit her with a water bong so she picked up a knife. She also made statements about harming herself. The defendant ultimately tossed the knife out of the room and was taken into custody. The defendant was transported to a medical facility for a mental health evaluation. TMR gave the deputies consent to search the studio apartment. Deputies located a folding style "buck knife" with the blade in the locked-out position on a table in the room.
