On February 6, 2026, at 2:06 A.M., an Eagan police officer was on routine patrol in the City of Eagan, Dakota County, Minnesota, when he ran a check on the registration of a motor vehicle that was displaying expired registration. The check confirmed that the vehicle’s registration was expired. The officer then stopped the motor vehicle. The officer approached the motor vehicle and identified the driver as the defendant, Arryanna Angel-Nevaeh Aasen, who told the officer that she had warrants out for her arrest.
While speaking with the defendant, the officer noticed that her speech was rapid and she was fidgety. Her pupils were also dilated. The officer had the defendant step out of the motor vehicle to perform field sobriety tests, most of which she failed. The officer then placed the defendant under arrest for Driving While Impaired and on her outstanding warrants. In the defendant’s purse on the passenger seat was a jar containing a substance the officer believed was a controlled substance. The substance was preliminarily tested, and the test indicated the presence of cocaine with a weight of 1.29 grams.
In the defendant’s jacket pocket was another jar containing a suspected controlled substance. The second substance was also preliminarily tested, and the test indicated the presence of cocaine with a weight of 1.37 grams. The combined net weight of the cocaine is 2.66 grams. A search warrant was obtained, and the defendant provided a urine sample for testing. Testing at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension indicated the presence of cocaine benzoylecgonine (a metabolite of cocaine), fentanyl, and nor fentanyl, Schedule II controlled substances in the defendant’s urine sample.
In a Mirandized statement the defendant admitted that she had started using cocaine and fentanyl a few days ago and last used cocaine the night before the traffic stop. She admitted last using fentanyl an hour or two before the officer stopped her. The defendant admitted both substances the officer found were cocaine. The defendant’s Minnesota driving privileges were revoked on July 5, 2025 for Failing to Provide Proof of Insurance. She was convicted of Driving While Impaired on June 6, 2024.
