On June 1, 2026, Investigator Gerber of the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was assigned to investigate an incident that began on May 23, 2026, in Garrison, Crow Wing County, State of Minnesota. On May 23, 2026, at approximately 1347 hours, Deputy Hamilton spoke with NKS (fully identified in police reports). NKS reported she worked as a decoy, a 14-year-old female, for an organization called MN Predator Kickers whose mission is to catch online predators. NKS reported she has been communicating with a subject via text messaging.
NKS reported no crime had been committed by the subject and wanted to let the Sheriff's Office know she would be meeting up with the subject later in the day. NKS provided a number which was later found to belong to Robert Scott Anderson, the Defendant herein [DOB REDACTED]. NKS said she was going to confront the Defendant later that day. Deputy Hamilton told NKS to not confront the Defendant as NKS is not involved with law enforcement. On May 23, 2026, at approximately 1917 hours, NKS told the Sheriff's Office she met the Defendant at the McDonalds in Garrison, Crow Wing County, State of Minnesota.
Deputies responded. Upon arrival at McDonalds, Deputy Bremner observed two individuals standing in the parking lot that appeared to be recording with their cell phones. Bremner observed a male (later identified as the Defendant) seated in the driver's seat of a Dodge Ram. Bremner briefly spoke with NKS. NKS stated the male in the truck, the Defendant, came to the location to meet a 15-year-old for a sexual interaction. NKS stated that once the Defendant arrived, he stated he would be interested in sexual activity if the 15-year-old was ok with it.
Bremner approached the driver's side door of the Dodge. The Defendant rolled down the driver's window. Bremner observed a black cell phone near the Defendant's lap. The male identified himself as Robert Scott Anderson. The Defendant admitted to coming to the location to meet a 15-year-old female that he met on a dating website called "Meet Me", and that he was going to hang out with the 15-year-old juvenile. The Defendant said when he arrived, he was accosted by NKS and her group. The Defendant maintained he was not going to do anything sexual with the juvenile.
Bremner asked the Defendant if he found the situation strange or unusual. The Defendant responded: "The age yeah, probably, wasn't one of my smartest conversations." Bremner believed that the Defendant's cell phone may contain evidence regarding the Defendant's communication with the person he believed to be a 15-year-old child. Bremner seized Anderson's cell phone as evidence. The Defendant then asked Bremner's permission to show Bremner the messages the Defendant had exchanged. The Defendant scrolled through the conversations and showed Bremner messages back and forth to arrange for the meeting.
