On Wednesday March 4th 2026 at approximately 1731 hours Baxter Officers were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] to speak with a complainant about threats of violence. Sgt. Sundgaard arrived and spoke with the CWV (fully identified in police reports) who reported that he was walking in the courtyard of the apartment building where he resides while listening to a podcast through his ear pods, when a man later identified as Robert Mason Baker III 12-31-1993, approached him and started talking but CWV tried to ignore him.
Baker handed CWV a ball and told him to throw it for his dog. CWV declined, to which Baker replied "well that's gay." CWV explained that he was attacked by a dog when he was a child and is afraid of them. CWV then tried to walk away and Baker followed him and was asking CWV what he was doing there and told CWV he was weird. Then Baker said "I should gun you down." CWV said that he walked away and Baker proceeded to throw the ball by him so that the dog would run into him. CWV said that when Baker followed him and started throwing the ball he felt that Baker "was a threat." CWV told Baker to get away from him and he called 911. CWV said that he thought Baker was going to assault him when Baker started walking back towards CWV. CWV said that he was "spooked" and "definitely felt threatened." Officer Harris was able to identify the suspect as Robert Baker, who resides in the apartment complex.
Harris spoke with a neighbor that advised that Baker does have a gun in the apartment. Harris spoke with Baker who acknowledged the conversation with CWV and said he thought CWV's behavior was weird and that it was weird that he was walking around the property. Baker said he was unaware that CWV resided at the apartment and was lawfully on the property. Baker was arrested and transported to the Crow Wing County Jail. There Baker said that although he would never have shot CWV, he did admit that he might have made the threat to "gun him down.
