On July 23, 2025, at approximately 9:33 A.M., an officer with the Apple Valley Police Department responded to a report of a known shoplifter at a department store in the City of Apple Valley, the County of Dakota, the State of Minnesota, who was concealing merchandise in the store and staff wanted her trespassed. Upon arrival, officers met with a manager, who advised the female had left the store without making an attempt to pay for the merchandise and was walking southbound wearing all pink. Officers located the female, who identified herself as SARAH KORTO PYNE [DOB REDACTED], herein the Defendant.
The Defendant admitted to stealing a magazine and a pair of sunglasses but denied any other items were stolen. Officers spoke with the manager and determined additional items that had been stolen. Specifically, officers identified a pair of sandals, pink clothing, and a hat, among other accessories. Officers placed the Defendant under arrest. Officers conducted a search incident to arrest and located several items that had been stolen from the store. During a search of her bags, officers located a coin purse containing a baggie with a large, crystal-like rock consistent with methamphetamine.
The substance was collected and transported to the Dakota County Drug Task Force for preliminary NIK testing. The substance weighed 7.19 grams and tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
