On or about February 21, 2026, an officer with the South St. Paul Police Department was conducting routine patrol in the area of Highway 494 and Highway 52 in Dakota County when they observed a GMC Yukon exit a Kwik Trip parking lot and begin traveling southbound on Concord Street N. The officer queried the license plate and determined that the registered owner of the vehicle, Tyler Nathan Jaenke [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter “Defendant,” had a revoked driver’s license and that the vehicle had been stopped three times in the last two months, and that Defendant had been the driver in the past.
Shortly thereafter the officer conducted a traffic stop of Defendant’s vehicle and made contact with the driver, who was confirmed to be Defendant through his Minnesota ID card. The officer then queried Defendant’s driving status and confirmed that his license status was revoked, and that Defendant had been convicted for Driving After Revocation four times in the past six months. While speaking to officers Defendant confirmed that the vehicle was in fact his. Defendant also had a passenger in the car with him who was given a courtesy ride to her residence because she had a cancelled driving status.
Officers on scene then conducted a pre-tow inventory search of Defendant’s vehicle. During the search officers located two small zipper bags in the center console. In one bag an officer located a Zip Lock baggie containing a crystalline substance that appeared consistent with a controlled substance. Inside the other bag an officer located a small rubber container containing three pieces of a white powdery rocklike substance that was also consistent with a controlled substance. Officers also located multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia, specifically burnt pieces of tin foil, a bong containing a burnt white powdery substance, several used “toot straws,” and multiple torch lighters.
Officers also located a box of 9mm handgun ammunition in Defendant’s passenger side glove box which had eleven rounds of ammunition missing. Defendant was previously convicted of Possess Ammo/ Any Firearm – Conviction or Adjudicated Delinquent for Crime of Violence in Court File No. 25-CR-17-989, as well as Threats of Violence in Court File No. 25-CR-16-2700, and is therefore ineligible to possess a firearm or ammunition. The two suspected controlled substances were tested, one tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine and was found to have a net weight of 5.67 grams, while the other tested positive for the presence of cocaine and was found to have a net weight of 2.80 grams.
