On April 29, 2026, at approximately 1:59 P.M., a state trooper was dispatched to a vehicle crash in Apple Valley, Dakota County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, the trooper observed that two vehicles had been involved in the collision – a white Honda and a black Ford. The driver of the Ford was identified as ABDIRAHMAN ADAN ABDULLAHI ([DOB redacted]). ABDULLAHI had a restricted license and appeared to be violating his restrictions, which was later confirmed. ABDULLAHI apologized for having struck the Honda and explained that he was changing lanes when the collision happened.
The driver of the Honda (hereinafter “Victim”) was identified and gave a statement. Victim stated that she was driving in the center lane when the Ford approached at a high speed. Then, the Honda struck the Ford when the Ford was making a lane change. While the trooper was taking a statement from Victim, ABDULLAHI approached and offered to pay for the damages. In speaking with ABDULLAHI, the trooper detected a moderate odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. ABDULLAHI denied consuming alcohol.
ABDULLAHI was initially defiant but ultimately agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. ABDULLAHI’s demeanor was less than compliant, and he commented that he was “blind” but later clarified that he required glasses. ABDULLAHI was not wearing glasses. During the horizontal gaze nystagmus test, ABDULLAHI showed clues of impairment. ABDULLAHI declined to perform the remainder of the tests or provide a preliminary breath test. ABDULLAHI was arrested but physically resisted. ABDULLAHI was loaded into a squad car.
During transport to jail, ABDULLAHI made various offensive and obscene statements to the trooper. Of note, ABDULLAHI said, “I wanna spit on your f*****g face.” ABDULLAHI then spat at the trooper and some droplets landed on the trooper’s head and face. At the jail, the trooper read the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory to ABDULLAHI. ABDULLAHI spoke with an attorney and then agreed to take the DataMaster Breath Test. The test showed a result of 0.16 BAC. On May 21, 2025, ABDULLAHI’s license was revoked due to a qualified driving while impaired incident (court file no.: ••-CR-25-•••••).
