On Saturday, March 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 A.M. Officers from the Eagan Police Department responded to a hit and run report that occurred at the intersection of Cliff Road and Nichols Road in Eagan, Dakota County, MN. Upon arrival, officers located Leslie Ann Youngberg, [DOB REDACTED], (“Victim”) lying face down on Cliff Road and unresponsive. Victim was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The reporting party (Witness 1) told law enforcement that he and Victim [NAME REDACTED] on Nicols Road, crossing Cliff Road.
Witness 1 was approximately 20 feet in front of Victim when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Cliff Road struck Victim. The vehicle did not stop and continued to drive eastbound on Cliff Road. With the car parts left behind and the use of cameras, officers located a white Honda CRV, with heavy front-end damage, belonging to ROLANDO O MIRANDA MARTINEZ [DOB REDACTED], (Defendant), at his home around 11:15 A.M. On March 7th, 2026. While officers were waiting for back up, they saw Defendant grab a backpack out his car and get into an Uber.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and placed the Defendant under arrest. While in the back of squad car, the Defendant made spontaneous comments that included, “one person in the road,” and “I forgot to tell them, and I forget the person. That’s one person in the road. It’s a lady.” Thereafter, in a post-Miranda statement, the Defendant admitted to being at the scene. He stated that he was driving his white Honda CRV when he hit “something” on Cliff Road around 2:00 A.M. The Defendant stated he was going home from a bar in Minneapolis but denied drinking.
Later in the statement, Defendant stated that a “thing” jumped out at him, breaking his windshield, destroying it. He also stated that maybe “it” was drunk or homeless, but that he didn’t know. Defendant said he went home because he was scared. Defendant was taken to Dakota County Jail. An autopsy was conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. Officers obtained search warrants for the Defendant phone and a blood sample. The Minnesota State Patrol conducted an accident reconstruction.
