Right now the Duluth Police Department is launching a new program aimed at improving interactions between officers and people on the autism spectrum. The department's new autism awareness advisor card program gives individuals families and caregivers a way to share important information with first responders during traffic stops or other encounters. Police say the cards can help officers better understand a person's communication style or other needs. The cards are available for free at the Duluth Police Department.
