On March 12, 2026, a Minneapolis Park Police officer initiated a traffic stop on an illegally parked vehicle at the Camden Boat Launch located at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. In the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The officer activated his emergency lights and approached the driver in full uniform. The officer observed the male driver and informed him he was not free to leave. The officer observed what appeared to be alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver quickly drove off from the area fleeing police.
The vehicle was located a short while later at the registered owner's address. The registered owner stated that she had loaned the vehicle to a female friend and provided officers with the friend's Facebook profile and information. The registered owner did not know the male suspect who was with her friend in the car. The vehicle was towed to the Minneapolis Impound Lot. On March 19, 2026, the registered owner called investigators providing the name "Dustin Eberhardt," as the male suspect in this case.
Investigators compared booking photos of Dustin Kyle Eberhardt, [DOB REDACTED] to still shots from the initial officer's Officer's BWC and found them to be a match. The same day, investigators went to Hennepin County Probation where Eberhart was scheduled for an appointment with his PO. Eberhardt was present but was wearing hair extensions in an apparent attempt to conceal his identity from investigators. Eberhardt stated he was out of town the day of the fleeing incident and would be able to provide proof.
Officers did not arrest Eberhart at that time, in part due to the disguise he was wearing and his insistence he had an alibi. Officers wanted to gather more information to be sure Eberhart was, indeed, the driver who fled police. Eberhardt never provided proof of his alibi, nor did he return phone calls to investigators. On April 1, 2026, Eberhard was taken into custody by Ramsey County Sheriff's Office on a separate matter. On April 2, 2026, Eberhardt was transferred into the Chisago County Jail based on fleeing charges in that jurisdiction.
In his new booking photo, Eberhart was not wearing hair extensions. Investigators compared booking photos of Eberhardt from April 2, 2026, to the BWC from March 12, 2026, and noted that he was no longer wearing fake hair. This booking image provided a better comparison of Eberhart and the fleeing suspect and confirmed his identity. The Defendant is currently in custody in Chisago County. Based on the Defendant's probationary status, failure to abide by lawful orders, and the public safety risk posed by his behavior, the State requests this complaint issue by warrant.
