Complainant is Maple Grove Police Department Detective Angie Sellman. Complainant states that on October 3, 2025, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Fernbrook Lane in the city of Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota, after observing the driver run a red light. Officers were patroling the area while a high school football game was going on and there was pedestrians around. Upon observing the vehicle drive through the red light and fail to yield to pedestrians, officers caught up to it and conducted the stop.
Upon running the vehicle's license plate, it was revealed that the registered owner had a revoked license. Officers made contact with the driver, later identified as LAWRENCE TOENIAH OLADIMEJI [DOB REDACTED], and confirmed that he was the registered owner. Officers also observed a burnt marijuana blunt in the center console and there was an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. OLADIMEJI confirmed it was marijuana and stated he was smoking it previously. Officers requested OLADIMEJI to exit the vehicle and conducted a search for additional improperly packaged marijuana.
When asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle, OLADIMEJI stated he had a handgun in the center console and stated he had a permit to carry. Officers located more marijuana in the vehicle that was not in its original packaging. Officers also located the firearm in the center console, noting that it was loaded and a round was in the chamber. Upon running OLADIMEJI's information, officers found that OLADIMEJI did not have a permit to carry a concealed pistol. OLADIMEJI also did not have a concealed carry permit card on his person and he advised he did not know where it would be.
OLADIMEJI was placed under arrest. Officers noted they recovered.69 grams of free marijuana flower, 1.68 grams of marijuana in separate baggies, 2 marijuana blunts, a Ruger LCP handgun with full six round magazine and a round in the chamber, and other marijuana packaging. Investigators did a secondary check for a permit to carry for OLADIMEJI and were unable to find one. OLADIMEJI was sent notice of revocation in September of 2024 and again in May of 2025.
