At around 3:50 AM on May 30, 2026, officers were sent to the apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a domestic burglary. Officers spoke to SMS [DOB REDACTED] who wanted them to see the state of her apartment. Officers noted blood all over SMS’s tank top, arms, shorts, and legs. Officers saw fresh drops of blood on the hardwood floor, living room carpet, exterior porch door handle, window and door blinds, and room divider. There was broken glass on the hardwood floors and carpet.
A broken clock was on the floor; the living room table was flipped over; and the room divider and window blind pars were on the floor. Officer saw two holes in the walls. SMS said her brother, JEROME JERMAINE SHIELDS [DOB REDACTED] was arguing with his girlfriend in a car outside her apartment window. At some point, Shields pushed through an unlocked window into SMS’s apartment. Shields argued with SMS, and he pushed her on top of a portable fan. Shields went outside and continued to yell at his girlfriend.
Shields again entered SMS’s apartment. Shields broke the room divider, shoved the clock off the wall breaking its glass, and pushed SMS onto the living room table. One of the times Shields pushed SMS she fell and got bloodied elbows. SMS’s significant other told police he awoke to Shields pushing the bedroom screen out and entering the apartment. Shields yelled at SMS, and he pushed her on top of a portable fan. Shields returned to his car and yelled at his girlfriend some more. Shields broke some car windows cutting himself.
Shields reentered SMS’s apartment. Shields argued with SMS and pushed her over the living room table with one hand. Shields punched the clock on the wall, and he knocked over the room dividers. SMS estimated it would cost at least $1000 to repair the damage Shields caused to the apartment and her belongings. Medics took SMS to the hospital at her request to be treated for injuries Shields inflicted on her. At around 4:40 AM on May 30, 2026, officers were sent to [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a domestic burglary.
Dispatch heard a man and woman arguing and the sound of glass breaking. Officers found the front door at that location had been damaged. Officers spoke to LS who said Shields showed up unannounced and forced his way inside after damaging the front door. LS and Shields have children in common. LS said Shields has never lived there. Shields came upstairs, broke into two rooms, and yelled at her over their relationship status. Shields fled out the back door. At around 5:50 AM, officers later learned that Shields was at the hospital.
When told to stop, Shields asked, “For what?” Shields fled and was later arrested. Shields has 2 qualified domestic violence-related offense convictions within the past 10 years: On May 22, 2017, Shields was sentenced on a misdemeanor domestic assault in Ramsey County District Court file ••-CR-••-••••.
