At approximately 10:12 A.M. On January 16, 2026, Buffalo Police officers were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota. Reporting party LEA told dispatch that his wife, later identified as Lisa Louise Aho [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter “the defendant”) has a mental illness and threatened to kill him while grabbing a steak knife. Upon arrival, Officer Olson spoke with LEA. LEA said the defendant is destroying the house. LEA said the defendant threatened to kill him. She grabbed a knife and started slashing everything, and LEA thought she was going to slash him.
Officer Olson took a recorded statement from LEA. Regarding past incidents, LEA said the defendant threatened to kill him multiple times and has hit him in the past. On the morning of January 16, 2026, the defendant was screaming, destroying things, sweeping stuff off of the counters, and knocking over chairs. The defendant grabbed a steak knife and started coming at LEA with it. LEA was afraid for his life. LEA called 911. Officer Olson spoke with the defendant, who told him to ask LEA what happened.
She said she could not think straight. The defendant indicated she felt like harming someone or something. The defendant admitted that she has not been taking all her medications. The next time Officer Olson spoke with the defendant, she admitted she got mad and threw things. She admitted she banged the knife against the counter, but she denied waving the knife at LEA or threatening LEA with the knife. The defendant admitted to Officer Haskins that she jabbed a knife into the counter while she was arguing with LEA. Law enforcement located a black-handled, 12-inch serrated knife on the center island counter.
In the residence, a chair was knocked over, a lamp was on its side on the ground, a wall clock was on the floor, and the floor was littered with shattered glass. Law enforcement’s attempts at crisis intervention were unsuccessful. Officer Olson told the defendant she had to come with officers. The defendant pushed herself past Officers Olson and Haskins. Detective Clark grabbed her left arm and attempted to redirect her. She pulled away from Detective Clark, towards the kitchen. Officers took her to the ground.
The defendant tried to kick Officer Haskins at least twice. She swung her left arm at Officer Haskins, striking the area of his left eye. Officers were eventually able to handcuff the defendant. While handcuffed, the defendant continued to physically resist officers, tried to kick or punch officers, and tried to leverage herself away from officers’ holds. An ambulance arrived. While soft restraints were being applied to the defendant’s legs, the defendant deliberately kicked her right leg up and narrowly missed Detective Clark’s head.
The State respectfully requests that a warrant issue. Based on the allegations of this case and the defendant’s statement that she felt like harming someone or something, the defendant’s arrest is necessary to prevent imminent harm to LEA and/or other people.
