On December 8, 2025, Deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office obtained, and executed, a GPS tracker warrant for a 2007 Honda which is known to be used by Kenneth Lee Savage [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Deputies found that the 2007 Honda had been to an apartment complex (“the Apartment”) located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Deputies found that Defendant’s Minnesota Driver’s License was updated on November 6, 2025, to include the address of the Apartment.
Officers also found that a parking stall (“the Stall”) was associated with [APT REDACTED] of the Apartment. On December 19, 2025, at 9:30 A.M., law enforcement officers obtained, and executed, a search warrant for [APT REDACTED] (“the Unit”) of the Apartment. Officers arrived at the unit and announced their presence; no one responded. Officers then breached the front door. Upon doing so, officers immediately located Defendant and detained him. A second male was seen walking out of a spare bedroom.
This male was also detained. Officers searched the master bedroom and located a suitcase. Inside of the suitcase was a grocery bag which contained four individual bags. Each of the four bags had substances inside of them. In the first bag, was a substance that field-tested positive for Cocaine, a schedule-II controlled substance, and weighed 190.94-grams. In the second bag, was a substance that field-tested positive for Methamphetamine, a schedule-II controlled substance, and weighed 11.81-grams.
In the third bag was a substance that field- tested positive for Cocaine and weighed 78.71-grams. In the fourth bag, was a substance that field-tested positive for Cocaine and weighed 51.23-grams. In a pillowcase, which was also inside of the suitcase, was a loaded firearm magazine. In a shoe box, officers located $7580.00 in US currency. Officers provided Defendant with his Miranda warning and Defendant agreed to speak with officers. Defendant stated that he doesn’t “really stay” at the Apartment and that it belongs to his girlfriend (“the Girlfriend”). Defendant denied knowing about any of the items that officers located.
However, Defendant did admit that he owned the magazine. Specifically, Defendant told officers that he had purchased a firearm, but it didn’t work so he had sold it but kept the magazine. Finally, officers asked Defendant if he had a vehicle in the Stall associated with the Unit. Defendant replied in the negative. Officers had not yet searched the vehicle in the Stall. Defendant was then booked into the Hennepin County Jail. Officers learned that the Girlfriend had arrived at the apartment and was in the hallway.
Officers spoke with the Girlfriend who stated that she is engaged to Defendant. The Girlfriend further stated that Defendant had been staying with her in the master bedroom for at least the last three months. Several hours after the Unit was searched, officers found that the vehicle in the Stall had not been searched per the search warrant. Officers learned this in real time as they were listening to Defendant’s jail phone calls. In one of the calls, Defendant sounded worried and was secretive about the vehicle in the Stall.
