The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On August 12, 2025, at about 12:45pm, Maplewood Police responded to the Just Imagine clothing store, [ADDRESS REDACTED]. N., Maplewood, Ramsey County on a report of robbery. On arrival, officers met with a store employee, JGK ([DOB REDACTED]). He said that that morning, two men had come to the store. He said that he recognized them as having come in recently to look at a specific pair of shoes.
He said that this time, they asked to see the shoes again. He said that the store has a policy of only providing one shoe at a time, as a theft-prevention measure. He said that one of the men, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, demanded to see the other shoe and threatened to assault him if he did not provide it. He said that the man went behind the counter and took the other shoe from his hand, as his accomplice grabbed several other items. He said that the two then walked out with the merchandise.
He said that he was frightened and thought that he would be assaulted during the incident. Surveillance video was recovered. It shows the man in the hooded sweatshirt taking from JGK’s hands the shoebox (and one shoe), which he hands to the second man, before going behind the counter and seizing the other shoe. The second man grabs other items, and the two walk out with the unpaid-for merchandise. Store managers confirmed that the men had been seen in the store several times in the prior days and weeks.
They provided photos from several of these occasions. In each, the first man again covers his head and neck with a hood; at least once, he can be seen wearing a distinctive blue track suit. The man in the hoodie was positively identified as the defendant, GEORGE EDWARD DIXON, JR. ([DOB REDACTED]). He has distinctive neck tattoos – an apparent explanation for why he always covers his neck with a hood. A social media account that appears to belong to him contains a photo of him wearing the distinctive blue track suit.
The second man (the defendant’s accomplice) has not yet been identified. The value of the stolen shoes alone was determined to be more than $600. The defendant's criminal record includes a December 2024 conviction for Theft – Felony, for which he received a felony sentence (Case No. 27-CR-24-9905). He faces a pending charge for Theft – Felony. He also faces three pending felony charges for assaulting the mother of his children a week after the robbery at Just Imagine.
