On September 4, 2025, JACKIE TYRONE NEVELS [DOB REDACTED] failed to appear in ASAC on threats of violence charges in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-24-4310. Nevels selected $176.59 worth of steaks, roast, and catfish and concealed the items in plastic bags and his backpack. Nevels left the store with the stolen items. MN, a loss prevention employee, stopped Nevels who returned the stolen items in the plastic bags. Nevels took of with the rest of the stolen items in his backpack. TN, another loss prevention employee, pursued Nevels. When they reached the corner of the lot Nevels pulled out a knife, extended the blade, and lunged at TN. Nevels was 6 feet away from TM when Nevels lunged with the knife.
Nevels continued to flee, and TN followed Nevels. An officer stopped Nevels trying to enter [ADDRESS REDACTED]. Nevels went to the ground as directed, and he threw a boxcutter away from him. Officers recovered the boxcutter. The remaining stolen items were recovered from Nevels. Nevels was advised of his constitutional rights and agreed to speak to an investigator. Nevels admitted he stole meat for personal use and to sell. Nevels claimed loss prevention threatened to taze him, so he pulled out his box cutter.
Nevels claimed he did not display the blade. Nevels denied making any threats with the boxcutter, and he told loss prevention to quit following him. Nevels has prior felony convictions for simple robbery, attempted criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, theft, predatory offender violation, and threats of violence. Nevels has a threats of violence conviction in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-23-6435. Nevels pulled a box cutter on a Holiday employee who confronted him for shoplifting.
