On June 6, 2026, at about 10:21 A.M., Officer Peterson of the Rochester Police Department responded to a gas station located in Northeast Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota for a report of damage to property. Upon arrival, Officer Peterson met with the manager of the gas station (an adult male identified in the police reports and herein referred to as Witness). Witness stated he received notification that the store’s freezer was not maintaining proper temperature. Witness arrived at the store around 4 A.M. On June 6, 2026, after receiving the message.
Witness stated the store had to discard frozen products due to temperature failure. Witness stated a technician arrived and discovered that a manual disconnect breaker switch that was located on the back exterior wall of the store had been manually flipped to the off position. Witness stated he reviewed security camera footage and observed an unknown white male walk to the rear of the building at 9:02 P.M. On June 5, 2026. The footage showed the male reach up and manually flip the breaker switch to the off position.
Witness estimated the damage at approximately $10,0000 in unsaleable frozen products that had to be discarded. On June 8, 2026, Witness provided additional information about the suspect. Witness stated the suspect had been in the store on June 4, 2026, at about 11:09 P.M. The night before the incident. Witness stated the suspect was wearing the same clothing on both dates, including a large green hat with writing on it. Witness stated the store had prior problems with the suspect including theft of jumper cables and use of counterfeit hundred dollars.
Witness stated when the suspect entered the store, his coworker recognized the suspect and told him to leave the store. Witness stated he believed the suspect pulled the breaker in retaliation for being told to leave the store. Officers identified the suspect as Adam Joel Tiedeman [DOB REDACTED]. Detective Callahan of the Rochester Police Department spoke with Tiedeman and read his Miranda rights. Tiedeman admitted that he was at the store on June 4, 2026, and staff refused to sell to him and told him to leave.
