On March 25, 2026, at approximately 8:18 P.M., officers of the Minneapolis Police Department were alerted to reports of shots fired in an alley adjacent to Franklin Ave. E. And 2nd Ave. S. In the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers arrived on scene and immediately observed VICTIM C. G. Lying over rubble with a gunshot wound to the chest. VICTIM required emergency care and was transported to the hospital where he required emergency surgery. Officers later interviewed VICTIM who indicated that he was a resident of a nearby apartment and approached several unknown individuals who had built a homeless encampment in the alleyway.
According to VICTIM, he had observed the occupants of the encampment dealing drugs over multiple days and, on this date, went to demand that they leave. VICTIM made contact with one occupant, later identified as JEROME ANTOINE MARSHALL ([DOB redacted]), DEFENDANT herein, who shot VICTIM in the chest with a firearm. According to VICTIM, he fell to the ground while pulling on a tarp when DEFENDANT pulled a pistol and fired a single shot into VICTIM’s body. VICTIM was able to identify DEFENDANT from a sequential lineup.
Officers also interviewed other occupants of the encampment and corroborated DEFENDANT’s identification and learned that he was present at the time of the incident. DEFENDANT was later located and a firearm with a caliber matching that of the round fired into VICTIM was found on his person. Video was obtained from a nearby structure that depicts the incident, corroborates VICTIM’s account, and shows DEFENDANT fleeing from the scene after gunfire is heard. VICTIM remains hospitalized. The state may amend this complaint to increase the severity of charges upon further review of VICTIM’s injuries and the circumstances of the incident.
DEFENDANT is presently in custody.
