On November 17, 2025, at approximately 1:41 P.M., Saint Paul Officers were dispatched to Macalester College, 1605 Grand, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, on a theft. Security Officer Kelly reported two college owned power tools (Milwaukee brand 6” circular saw and a Bosch brand Router) were stolen off of the bed of a golf cart parked northbound on the sidewalk in front of the building. The tools have the name Macalester College etched in them, and valued at $500. Two maintenance staff were on the second floor of the window looking through the window when they noticed an older red Ford pickup truck on the sidewalk behind the maintenance cart.
One of the staff started to film the incident with his phone. A White male exited the truck, grabbed the two power tools from the golf cart, and returned to the pickup truck. The truck left west on Grand. The White male suspect wore a blue jacket, dark pants, and a black stocking cap. The pickup truck was an extended cab, had a large steel diamond plated toolbox in the bed, and the front bumper was partially detached on the passenger side. The truck also had a blue and red Amazon Delivery sticker on the doors.
The truck did not have a front license plate, and had aftermarket wheels. On December 13, 2025, Saint Paul Officers stopped a 2000 red Ford F-150 that was traveling east on Maryland Avenue, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, and that matched the description of a truck that had been reported stolen-a red Ford F-150, license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. ROBERT JOHN MOHS, [DOB REDACTED], was the driver of the truck. He gave officers his brother’s name when asked to identify himself-M. E. Mohs, [DOB REDACTED]. This truck matched the vehicle description of the suspect pickup truck in the theft at Macalester College.
The truck’s rear plate was covered with snow. The truck was a red Ford F-150, extended cab, late 1990’s or early 2000’s model, front end damage to the bumper, paint missing on both front corners of the hood, damage to the passenger side of the box/quarter, missing passenger side mirror, matching aftermarket rims, and did not have a front license plate. MOHS said he did not have his license with him because he left home in a hurry to go to a store. MOHS said the truck belongs to him, but was registered in his friend’s name, Steven, who lived on Dale Street.
MOHS said he heard the truck was reported stolen, but he did not know the details. Dispatch reported the license plate shown on the vehicle registered to a blue Ford F-150, but the stopped vehicle was a red pickup truck. The last four digits of the VIN number provided by dispatch for the displayed plate did not correspond with the VIN number for the current truck. The license plate displayed on the stopped vehicle was MN GMR506. An officer ran the VIN number for the stopped pickup truck, and it was reported as a stolen vehicle on 11/7/2025 to the Saint Paul Police Department.
