On January 13, 2026, at approximately 12:30 A.M., officers of the Brooklyn Center Police Department were dispatched to reports of an armed assault occurring at a group home located at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. N., City of Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers contacted staff members of the facility, who stated that a resident identified as THOMAS ISAIAH CLARKE (DPB, [DOB REDACTED]), DEFENDANT herein, had started an altercation with another resident, VICTIM [NAME REDACTED], in the common area of the facility that escalated when DEFENDANT used a hunting knife to slash VICTIM. According to witnesses, DEFENDANT accused VICTIM of taking money and DEFENDANT came into the common area and began to verbally taunt VICTIM. While at the top of the stairs, DEFENDANT yelled at VICTIM, who was sitting downstairs with a staff member, to come up and “finish this.” VICTIM [NAME REDACTED], at which time DEFENDANT produced a knife and slashed VICTIM [NAME REDACTED]. Staff members were able to intervene.
VICTIM was left with multiple lacerations to his arms, hands, face, and neck that were observable by officers and consistent with being cut by a knife. DEFENDANT was placed under arrest, and officers obtained a search warrant for DEFENDANT’s room and located a large hunting knife sitting on a dresser in the open. DEFENDANT admitted the knife belonged to him. This complaint may be amended relating to VICTIM’s injuries. DEFENDANT is presently in custody.
