On December 17, 2025 at 2:37 P.M. Carver County Deputies received multiple reports of an adult male trying to gain access to his former home at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Chanhassen, Carver County. Reports indicated Michael John Leclair (10-10-1987), hereinafter Defendant, was banging on the front door and trying to gain access to the residence. A reporting party indicated Defendant had been kicked out of the residence. While en route dispatch advised Defendant had smashed a rear patio window and left in a vehicle that had been in the garage.
Defendant is going through a divorce in Carver County Court File ••-CR-••-•••• with C. M. L. As part of that proceeding a receiver of the property of the marital home was granted on October 23, 2025 which indicated a receiver should immediately take control of the real property and exercise its power to remove either party from the home if necessary. The order specifically indicated: neither party shall have access to the marital homestead except as explicitly permitted by the receiver and confirmed in writing.
The order was served on Defendant on October 28, 2025 via mail. An amended order was granted that required sheriff's office assistance with removal of personal property. Defendant filed an objection to that order. It was granted and Defendant was served with the amended order on December 11, 2025. On December 15, 2025 Defendant had been escorted to the residence with law enforcement as a civil standby allowing Defendant to obtain personal items. At approximately noon on December 17, 2025 in a court proceeding pursuant to the divorce file, C. M. L. Had been given sole property rights to the residence at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. When deputies arrived at the residence on December 17, after 2:40 P.M., there were multiple scratches on the front door and the handle was stuck in the down position.
Footprints were observed in the snow on the front porch that lead to the south side of the residence, through a gate and into the backyard. The footprints continued around a corner and then there was a large amount of glass on a small concrete slab with a section of the sliding patio door broken. As deputies entered they observed a large, wet, retaining block just inside the broken window with more glass. They smelled fresh cigarette odor in the garage and noted the Audi was gone. A reporting party indicated Defendant had arrived in a grey SUV and then left in the black Audi.
RING video showed Defendant arrive at the front door and open the storm door and violently kick the front of the residence using his foot. Another video shows him walking form the front door to the back of the residence. The receiver of property indicated it would cost upwards of $1,000 to fix the rear patio door. Deputies spoke over the phone with Defendant who stated he had homestead rights, the divorce order was illegal and he had filed an appeal. Defendant denied breaking the window or taking the Audi.
