On November 19, 2025, at approximately 1911 hours, Edina Police Officers responded to a theft report at Macy's, 100 Southdale Center, Edina, Hennepin County. Loss Prevention Officer A. B. Stated a female, later identified as LEAH MARIE FAJARDO, Defendant herein, rapidly selected items from the men's department, entered the fitting room with six items and exited with only three. The remaining three items appeared to be concealed on her person. Several security sensors were in the fitting room that appeared to have been cut with a tool.
Loss Prevention attempted to stop her after she passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for the items and she ran away from them. Officers stopped her in the parking lot and confirmed that the Defendant was the person observed in the store. Officers identified the Defendant through a paper ID and confirmed she had a felony warrant. Officers recovered three items that were returned to the store. Officers also recovered a pair of black bolt cutters in her purse. In a post-Miranda interview, the Defendant stated she went to Macy's with a friend and she intended to steal merchandise and use the bolt cutters to do so.
She stated she did not have a means to pay for the items and took three Nike pieces of clothing. She then used the bolt cutters in the fitting room to remove the security sensors and left without paying for the items. She stated she ran away from Macy's security because she thought they would grab her. The total value of the items is $155.00. The Defendant is currently in custody.
