Olson asked Anderson if he always went into random apartment buildings when he was bored, and he stated "no." Just prior to him observing the Durango in the parking lot and making contact with Anderson, Det. Olson was involved in the arrest of another individual, for 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance. That investigation determined that that individual was coming from the Country Inn and Suites just prior to the traffic stop that led to his arrest. The investigation uncovered over 200 grams of methamphetamine, which were in close proximity to packaging materials.
Several packaging baggies labeled with "Red Bull Tropical Tequila" were located during that investigation. This individual had a passenger in the vehicle who had been identified as A. Anderson. While he was speaking to Brandon Anderson, Det. Olson observed that Anderson was carrying a plastic shopping style bag. Det. Olson asked him what was in the bag, in response to which Anderson retrieved some grocery/food items, and change began falling out of the bag. As Det. Olson was speaking with 2 82-CR-26-1555 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/13/2026 Anderson, Det.
Olson observed one of the same unique "Red Bull Tropical Tequila" baggies contained within his plastic shopping bag. Det. Olson asked Anderson about what was contained within the baggies and Anderson said he didn't know and the baggies didn't belong to him. Anderson handed Det. Olson the plastic shopping bag and Det. Olson observed Suboxone contained within it. He then observed a tied off piece of cellophane with what appeared to be methamphetamine inside at the bottom of the bag. He confronted Anderson with this information to which he stated, "Ain't no way.
Ain't no way! I was handed that bag when I walked out the door." Anderson was subsequently placed under arrest, and read a Miranda warning. He admitted to buying methamphetamine from the earlier referenced individual, and said his sister, A. Anderson, was in the car with that individual at the time he bought it.
