On January 6, 2026, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Police responded to a theft at the transit hub at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Hennepin County. An individual, later identified as EDWARD MORGAN STOCKARD (“Defendant”), took an Automatic External Defibrillator (“AED”) and its accessories. Police obtained surveillance footage showing Defendant arriving at the transit hub via a light rail train at approximately 5:13 A.M. Defendant went to the first floor of the transit hub and entered the bathroom.
At approximately 5:53 A.M., Defendant exited the bathroom and returned to the light rail platform when he approached the cabinet where the AED was stored. Defendant took the AED and put it in his backpack. Defendant walked around the transit hub for several more minutes before departing via a light rail train with the backpack, the AED and its accessories. Defendant did not have consent to take the AED. Defendant was arrested later in the day on an unrelated matter and was wearing the clothes he was observed wearing in the surveillance video.
The retail market value of the AED and its accessories was $2,361.73.
