On 01/28/2026 at 22:20, Shakopee Police Officers were on patrol on 4th Ave near Market St., Shakopee, Scott County, Minnesota, when the officer saw a vehicle with an inoperable brake and taillight. As the vehicle turned northbound on Spencer St, it made a slow and tight turn, and swerved to its right, nearly striking the right-hand curb on Spencer St S. The vehicle then weaved back towards the center of the lane. The officer stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as James Joseph Anderson, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the Defendant.
The officer saw a large quantity of improperly packaged cannabis flower in the center cup holder. The officer asked the Defendant to exit the vehicle and told him they were going to search the vehicle. The Defendant grew upset, stating that he did not give consent, and eventually exited the vehicle quickly and irritable. The Defendant argued with the officers and then admitted there was meth inside the vehicle. The Defendant attempted to retrieve the methamphetamine but later pointed out that the methamphetamine would be underneath the keys in the center console.
Inside, the officer located a plastic bag containing white crystallized substance consistent with methamphetamine. Also, near the bag was a gold cylinder. When asked if there was methamphetamine inside the cylinder, the Defendant stated it was. Officer searched the vehicle and found: - A plastic bag located underneath the keys in the center console, which field tested positive for methamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance and weighed 1.9 grams. - A gold cylinder located near the plastic bag in the center console, which field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 6.7 grams.
In total, 8.6 grams of methamphetamine. The Defendant was arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail.
