On or about 10/30/2025, at approximately 0803 hours, Officers were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] Plymouth, Hennepin County, Minnesota for a theft from an automobile report. Officers were alerted that a firearm was stolen from a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers met with the victim 1 and victim 2. Victim 1 stated thats her fiancé (victim 2). Victim 1 stated that early this morning, victim 2 shotgun was stolen from his red truck (MN license plate [PLATE REDACTED]) along with multiple bags belonging to victim 2. Victim 1 stated that she was loading up victim 2 red truck with various bags early in the morning and left the truck unlocked as she went back upstairs a few times to get more bags to load into the truck.
When victim returned back to the truck, she realized a few of her large tote bags, a plastic tote bin and victim 2’s shotgun were missing from the truck. Victim 1 stated that her tote bags and the bin contained various luxury handbags that are worth several thousand dollars along with other personal items. Victim 1 stated that victim 2’s shotgun was originally underneath the back seat. Victim 2 provided serial number for his shotgun that was stolen. The serial number for the Rock Island Armory Traditional Single Shot 12-gauge shotgun is R452523. Victim 1 stated that her neighbor parks their Tesla in the parking spot to the left of spot 94 and the cameras on their Tesla captured the suspect at 06:59 hours in the parking garage.
Officers reviewed the video, which shows an adult male, later identified as, Jose Sarmiento Miranda Jr. [DOB REDACTED], defendant hereinafter, drive into the parking garage in what appears to possibly be a dark colored Subaru SUV (unknown MN license plate). The video shows the defendant rummaging through victim 2 truck with a flashlight on the front right passenger side and removing items from it. On 11/9/2025 victim 1 reported to Officers that she had located one of her stolen items on Facebook Marketplace.
Victim 1 stated that she had observed her stolen Louis Vuitton bag posted on Marketplace and knew it was hers because of a broken zipper. Victim 1 stated that the account that posted the bag was under the name "Sarmiento Jose" and described the profile photo as a Hispanic male wearing a gray Nike track suit and sitting on a car. The seller’s Facebook account was positively identified as the defendant. Victim 1 estimated her loss from the theft to be $38,300.00. On December 1, 2025, the defendant was located and was placed under arrest.
The defendant was transported to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center. The defendant is currently in custody.
